Puerperal psychosis: An overview

Psychosis is a condition that affects the way your brain processes information. It causes you to lose touch with reality. You might see, hear, or believe things aren’t real. symptom, not an illness. can be triggered by mental illness, physical injury substance abuse, extreme stress trauma [1].Postpartum severe health following childbirth, psychosis and associated mood disturbance. Research date has primarily focused on mothers’ experiences, identifying risk factors, aetiology, intervention efficacy [2].Postpartum (PPP) rare serious psychiatric disorder occurring in early postnatal period. Some consider PPP distinct clinical entity characteristic symptoms, such as lability, decreased sleep, delusions, disorganized erratic behaviour, perplexity/confusion. Others encompass any psychotic illness postpartum period, depression exacerbation of schizophrenia. A personal history bipolar disorder, well prior episode PPP, significantly increases developing PPP. With high suicide (4%) infanticide rate (4%), it emergency needs prompt evaluation monitored setting [3].
